A ZenBusiness Alternative for Louisiana Priced Once and Left Alone

Louisiana registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.

An interest should be declared before an argument is made. Louisiana Registered Agent.co publishes this page and sells the service being compared, at $99 per year, which makes us a direct commercial rival of the company in the heading. Weigh our reasoning accordingly. Rates attributed to ZenBusiness below are the rates ZenBusiness itself advertises, reproduced without adjustment.

The Platform Is Well Built and We Will Say So

ZenBusiness has invested heavily in making entity administration resemble modern consumer software, and the investment shows. Filing history, compliance notices, and delivered agent correspondence are consolidated behind one login, presented clearly. A Louisiana owner who wants that consolidation is buying something real, and this page raises no argument against the quality of the interface.

Two Figures, of Which One Governs

Acquired as a standalone service rather than within a formation package, ZenBusiness prices agent coverage at $99 for the opening term, plus state fees, and thereafter at $199 annually on renewal. Both figures are disclosed; neither is concealed.

The material point is which of the two you will pay repeatedly. Louisiana requires an agent of record for the entire period an entity remains registered, and entities routinely outlive their first billing term by a decade or more. The $199 is therefore the operative figure for anyone evaluating the total cost of this obligation, and the opening $99 carries an unbounded addition in any event, since state fees vary with whatever else is ordered on the same transaction.

The statutory duty does not enlarge to match the second price. Maintaining a staffed Louisiana street address and receiving process during business hours is the complete function, and it is unchanged in the tenth year.

Documents served on our Louisiana office are digitized and placed in the client portal during the business day of receipt, accompanied by email notice, because a response period begins at service rather than at the moment the client learns of it. The renewal invoice matches the enrollment invoice in every subsequent year; there is no introductory term to lapse. A single service is offered, so the quoted figure is the complete figure. Our address appears in the public record in place of the client's.

We also observe an annual deadline that Louisiana enforces narrowly. Under La. R.S. 12:1308.1 the LLC annual report falls due on the anniversary of organization, and the state portal accepts it only within the thirty days preceding that date. Our reminders precede the opening of that window rather than trailing it.

Our price is among the lowest flat annual rates in Louisiana. It is not the lowest: BetterLegal advertises $90 per year, and a comparison page that omitted this would be worth less to you than one that states it.

Replacing ZenBusiness on the Louisiana Record: Form, Fee, Route

Form. The Change of Registered Office or Agent, form #983, is the instrument for an LLC. A single submission covers both a change of agent and a change of registered office, should both be moving.

Filer. It is delivered to the Louisiana Secretary of State, Commercial Division, which maintains the entity record on which your agent is named.

Fee. The charge stands at $25. From October 1, 2026, Act 921 of the 2026 Regular Session sets it at $30, one entry among several increases scheduled for that day. With the change now some weeks off, a filing completed this month is a filing completed at the current rate.

Route, and the acceptance requirement. Two paths exist and they differ in one significant respect. Submitted electronically through geauxBIZ, the state solicits the incoming agent's acceptance by email and the matter concludes there. Submitted on paper, that acceptance must be sworn: the agent taking over executes an affidavit of acknowledgment and acceptance before a notary, and it travels with the form. The acceptance is an oath, not a checkbox. This is a state where notarial practice runs deeper than in most, and the sensible response is to appoint an agent who treats the formality as part of the engagement. We prepare and execute our acceptance documentation on either route, so the submission is complete when it reaches the Commercial Division.

Sequence. Appoint before you file, and file before you cancel. Louisiana obliges an LLC to maintain a registered office continuously, and that continuing obligation is the argument for a deliberate overlap: retain the ZenBusiness subscription until the state record displays our name, then discontinue it. A short period of paying two providers is trivial against the risk of process being delivered to an office that has stopped acting for you.

Measured against the difference in the table above, a $25 filing fee is not a meaningful obstacle to switching.
