An Agent Appointment Without the Legal Subscription Around It
Louisiana registered agent representation, billed at $99 per year. Includes the office address on your filings, same-day scanning of legal mail, and reminders for state deadlines.
Louisiana Registered Agent.co prepared this page and sells Louisiana registered agent service at $99 per year, which makes us an interested party rather than a disinterested reviewer. The Rocket Lawyer figures quoted are that company's published rates. Our reasoning about them is ours, and should be read with our position in view.
The Pricing Is Consistent, Which Is Worth Noting
Rocket Lawyer charges $125 per year for registered agent service and applies that figure uniformly across every membership tier. There is no introductory rate scheduled to expire and no premium attached to a lower tier for the same statutory function. In a market with a pronounced fondness for two-stage pricing, consistency of this kind is a point in the vendor's favor and we record it as one.
The surrounding platform is also substantial. Document templates, attorney consultation, and a repository for executed agreements are all genuine capabilities for a business that will use them.
The Reservation Concerns Scope
Our objection is not that $125 is misrepresented. It is that the figure is attached to a bundle.
Registered agent service at Rocket Lawyer is a component of a wider legal subscription. A client who draws contracts through that subscription and consults its attorneys receives fair value for the whole package, and the agent appointment is an incidental benefit within it. A client whose requirement is confined to the statutory appointment is financing capabilities they will not open. The question to settle before purchasing is not whether the price is honest but whether you are buying one product or two.

Who Louisiana Permits to Hold the Appointment
Ready when you are. Ordering takes about five minutes.
Order HereThe eligibility rules are worth stating because Louisiana's are distinctive. La. R.S. 12:1308 recognizes three classes of registered agent for an LLC: a Louisiana citizen who resides in the state; a partnership or professional law corporation holding admission to practice law in this state; and a corporation or limited liability company, whether domestic or foreign, holding authority to transact business here. The inclusion of law practices as a distinct category is close to unique among state agent statutes.
The same provision imposes a continuing duty with more force than its wording suggests. The company must keep a registered office within Louisiana without lapse, and the statute deems that office its domicile for every purpose. The address is not a correspondence preference; it is where the entity legally resides, which is why a permanent staffed location matters and why the field cannot be filled with a post office box.
Both providers in the table satisfy the statute. The statute is a threshold rather than a ranking, and once it is met the remaining variables are scope, cost, and the speed with which delivered documents reach you.
The Terms Attached to $99
The rate is $99 per year with no variation at renewal. Documents served on our Louisiana office are scanned and posted to the client dashboard the same business day, with email notice carrying the file, because the period for responding to a lawsuit begins at delivery. Our address, not yours, appears in the registered office field of the public record. One service is sold and nothing further is proposed at checkout. Where a client wants ordinary business mail scanned in addition to legal documents, that is $15 per item and is stated in advance.
We decline the superlative. $90 is on offer elsewhere in this market, from BetterLegal, and a buyer whose sole criterion is the published sticker should examine that offer. Our claim is narrower and, we think, more useful: a flat annual rate near the low end of the Louisiana range, held indefinitely, with same-day handling inside it.
Louisiana's Procedure for Replacing Rocket Lawyer as Agent
The document. Form #983 on the Commercial Division's schedule, whose title covers both a change of registered office and a change of registered agent for a Louisiana LLC in one submission. The current version sits on the state's forms and fee schedule.
The filer and the fee. The completed form goes to the Commercial Division, with $25. Under Act 921 of this year's Regular Session that figure becomes $30 on October 1, 2026. The increase is now weeks away, so a decision already made is worth executing at the present rate rather than the scheduled one.
The two routes. Filed electronically through geauxBIZ, the state obtains the incoming agent's acceptance by email. Filed on paper, the state wants the acknowledgment and acceptance in affidavit form, notarized, and lodged with the submission. The paper route is the reason a professional agent is worth having: we prepare, execute, and notarize our acceptance so that the submission is complete on first presentation rather than returned for a missing attachment.
The order of operations. Engage the replacement, obtain the executed acceptance, file the change, confirm the entity record reflects it, and only then discontinue the Rocket Lawyer membership. Because the registered office is your company's statutory domicile and must be maintained continuously, there is no version of this sequence in which cancelling first is prudent. Run both for the short overlap and the appointment is occupied on every day of the transition.
Our single rate and the terms attached to it are published on the pricing page.
